Manāki Whitebait

Manāki Whitebait is a pioneering New Zealand artisan food producer, recognized for establishing the world's first commercial land-based whitebait farm. They sustainably cultivate giant kōkopu, one of the five NZ whitebait species, aiming to provide a year-round supply while reducing pressure on wild stocks. The project is the culmination of 16 years of research, supported by MPI, and is owned by Tahu Whaoa Group Holdings.
